Treatment Precautions

The use of goggles is mandatory for this treatment. It’s essential that the patient has the goggles on and that they are in the correct place before starting a treatment. If the patient finds the light excessively bright, cotton pads or other safe items such as eye pads and eye pillows can be applied to the eyes, underneath the goggles, to help block the light. Generally, phototherapy is a very safe, gentle, non-invasive procedure, however it may increase the skin’s sensitivity to products and may also increase reactivity to sunlight. It is recommended:

  • That direct exposure to sunlight is avoided following a treatment or to use an SPF50+ sunscreen like Clairderm SPF50+ Broad Spectrum, Moisturising Daily Defence Sunscreen Lotion before going into sunlight.
  • The use of solariums and swimming in chlorinated water is avoided whilst undergoing treatments.
  • That a professional cosmeceutical maintenance program is followed using Clairderm Cosmeceutical skin care, to support the treatments and ensure the achievement of the best results.
  • That a phototherapy treatment is not performed in certain instances highlighted in the training guide.
Treatment Procedure

Phototherapy is completely safe and does not produce a thermal reaction in the skin which makes it a very comfortable and pleasant treatment. Whilst some results can be seen immediately, the best results are achieved from a course of treatments with benefits continuing to show well after the initial course.

PRE-TREATMENT
  • Prior to starting a treatment, the patient must be lying comfortably on the bed with their goggles in place. The machine and LED panel sets must be positioned to adequately cover the treatment area.
  • The large adjustable head should be lowered over the treatment area using the remote control to ensure optimal power delivery.
  • The LED head, containing the light panels, can be gently pulled away from the machine using the retractable arm and curved around the treatment area to provide better coverage.



TREATMENT
  • Turn on machine
  • Press the button of the “Program Menu” you wish to select.
  • Press the “Power” button to start a 20minute program.
  • When complete turn off machine using the switch at the base of the trolley.
