1. How is the skin prepared prior to the treatment?

• The skin is double cleansed using Clairderm Gentle Purifying Cleanser.
• Depending on state regulations, a numbing cream can be applied for up to 30mins prior to the treatment. This minimises any discomfort.
• ONLY Panadol can be taken prior to the treatment.

2. How long will any side effects last?

• Some clients experience visible affects/redness that may last for 12 to 24 hours on average.
• Side effects are minimal, including mild swelling, mild bruising and peeling. These effects are actually normal and increase the blood, oxygen, flow to the area.
• It is important to protect the skin with a broad spectrum SPF50+.sunscreen like Clairderm SPF50+, Broad Spectrum, Moisturising Daily Defence Sunscreen Lotion

3. What products are used during the treatment?

• BeautyMed Epidermal Growth Factor serum containing hyaluronic acid is used during the treatment.
• The needles push the hyaluronic acid serum into the dermis which helps to hydrate the skin, stimulate collagen production, minimise fine lines and optimise results.
• This can be purchased after your treatment.
• Other serums in the Clairderm and BeautyMed range can also be used depending on the skin condition that is being treated.

4. Why is skin needling beneficial to my skin?

• The treatment promotes the natural reproduction of collagen and elastin, making the skin feel smoother and tighter.
• Creating only microscopic punctures in the epidermis skin needling is minimally invasive with little damage to the epidermis. This means the collagen production is significantly quicker than some other more aggressive treatments.

5. What do I do afterwards?

• The skin can feel tender and warm.
• To keep the risk of infection and sensitivity to a minimum please do not use anything that contains glycolic acid, retinol and acidic skin care with “active” ingredients.
• Avoid touching or rubbing the face and apply minimal make-up (mineral only).
• Due to the skin being so sensitive it is recommended that sun exposure and solarium use is avoided for at least 24 hours.

6. When can I have my next treatment done?

• Treatments can be repeated anywhere after 1-3 weeks, depending on your skin's natural healing.
• Normally a minimum of 3 treatments are required.
• However, if scarring is being treated more treatments are normally required for optimal results.

7. What is the gliding technique and when should I use it?

• The gliding technique is when the pen is moved slowing across the skin in a slow, regular and even gliding motion.
• It is used on larger areas.
• It is typically used for needle depths from 0.25mm up to 1.00mm. Do not use with a needle depth greater than 1.25mm. Anything deeper than this will cause the needles to catch on the skin causing discomfort for the patient.
• For the gliding technique only use 9 and 12 needle tips.
• When using the gliding technique, it is very important that the pen speed is on maximum. To prevent the skin from catching it must always be kept taut.

8. What is the stamping technique and when should I use it?

• The stamping technique, like the name suggests, is when the pen is placed in a fixed spot and the dermal pen needles penetrate the skin.
• It is used on smaller areas or areas that have a specific problem like a scar.
• This technique can be used using any needle depth unlike the gliding technique.

9. How do I care for my skin after the treatment?

• To ensure that results are optimised and maintained it's recommended that a strict post treatment maintenance program is followed.
• This should be done using a professional cosmeceutical skin care range like BeautyMed Dermo Cosmetics, High-Tech Active skin care. This includes a quality range of active regenerating, hydrating and nutritive creams and serums.

Treatment Precautions

There are very strict contraindications relating to skin needling that need to be adhered to pre, during and post treatment.

Treatment Procedure

This treatment is suitable for all skin types. It helps to promote the natural reproduction of collagen and elastin, making the skin smoother and tighter. It can be used as a stand-alone treatment or as part of a skin management program together with other modalities like LED Phototherapy.

STEP 1 PRE TREATMENT (1-2 WEEKS PRIOR TO TREATMENT)

• Ideally the patient will prepare their skin for at least 1 to 2 weeks prior to treatment with exfoliating cosmeceuticals such as Beauty Med Glycolic Acid Peeling Gel.

STEP 2 CLEANSE (5 MINS)

• Gently cleanse the skin using Clairderm Gentle Purifying Cleanser to remove make-up, dirt and impurities.

STEP 3 NANONEEDLING (5-10 MINS)

• Place the nano needle on the pen and gently remove dead skin cells.
• This will optimize the microneedling treatment.

STEP 4 APPLY PROFESSIONAL STRENGTH SERUMS (5 MINS)

• Liberally apply professional strength serums, containing the appropriate active ingredients, onto the skin.
• Suggested treatment serums include BeautyMed Hyaluronic Acid Serum, BeautyMed Collagen & Elastin Serum, BeautyMed Epidermal Growth Factor and Clairderm Regenerating Serum.

STEP 5 – DERMAL SKIN NEEDLING (10 MINS)

• Perform dermal needling using either a gliding or a stamping technique.
• Repeat this process section by section until the total area has been treated.
• Wipe the treated area clean with a wet Fibrella. This will remove all traces of blood.
• Take 2 cotton rounds and apply Clairderm Fresh Toner. This contains bisabolol (Chamomile), which has for centuries been used to treat inflammation and soothes the skin.

STEP 6 POST PROCEDURE (5-10 MINS)

• At this point you can customize the treatment to suit your salon and add any number of optional additions to increase your range of menu treatments with your Clairderm dermal needling. These include applying nourishing/hydrating masks, massages, moisturisers or LED phototherapy.

STEP 7 MAINTENANCE

• To ensure the results are maintained it’s recommended that a strict maintenance program, using a professional cosmeceutical skin care range such as the BeautyMed High-Tech Active skin care OR Clairderm Cosmeceuticals, is followed.
• This should include the using a pH balancing cleanser and applying Clairderm SPF50+, Broad Spectrum, Moisturising Daily Defence Sunscreen Lotion together with a quality range of regenerating, hydrating and nutritive creams and serums.

Outstanding Results

Dermal skin therapy can be used as a stand-alone treatment or can be administered together with other modalities as part of an effective skin management program. It’s recommended that active serums are used in conjunction with the treatment. The results are simple amazing!
